ISKCON’s Sri Krishna Balram Mandir (Medchal) – A place for spiritual divinity

The beautiful Sri Krishna Balram Mandir vibrating with the echoes of divinity and love is a must-see for everyone. Located in Dabilpur, Medchal on the outskirts of Hyderabad, this temple has a wonderful way of captivating you and making you feel loved. The temple is surrounded by trees and beautiful picturesque surroundings that leave the hustle-bustle of urban life behind. A beautiful 50-acre village, it consists of a temple, goshala and a guest house.

Under the aegis of ISKCON, this temple resonates with a very tranquil atmosphere drowning in blissful divinity. Srila Prabhupada, the founder Acharya of ISKCON came to this place (Dabilpur) way back in 1976. Seeing the tranquillity of this place, he set up this ISKCON.

With Sri Krishna and Sri Balarama as presiding deities, a rare combination of deities the first in both the Telugu states,  this temple has a lot to offer to satiate your spiritual appetite. Draped with rich clothes and jewellery, the idols are decked with great delicacy and care. In the centre hall, one can always hear the heavenly tune of Hare Rama Hare Krishna. Many devotional lectures and addresses are arranged for the benefit of the spiritual vein of devotees.  The aim of ISKCON is to acquaint all people of the world with universal principles of self-realization and God consciousness so that they may derive the highest benefit of spiritual understanding, unity and peace. This temple serves everyone as a centre of the cultural, spiritual, educational and social activities given to raise the standard of the lives of people here. The followers hold sessions in institutes, corporates, etc, to teach the techniques of spiritualizing daily life.

A spiritual retreat where individuals come together as a community to engage themselves deeper in prayer and meditation. This may be taken as a supplement to the Sanskrit word Sat-Sanga. The word Sat-Sanga means frequenting the company of saintly and pious-minded people who dedicate their activities to pleasing the Supreme Personality of Godhead – Sri Krishna.

A great positive energy is there. The temple carries out programs of Pujas and Aartis every day while on Sundays, special programs are organized. Every Sunday a Bhagavad Gita discourse is held from 1 pm to 2 pm followed by aarti and kirtan and then prasad is distributed to all the devotees.

Krishna Balarama Goshala in Hyderabad is one of the most unique and well maintained where personal attention and care are given to each cow, with separate special zones allocated for bulls, cows, calves and milking cows. Pregnant cows are offered a special diet and care to ensure the proper health of the cow and the calf. Here the cows are treated as family members and all due care is given to them. None of the cows or bulls is sold or given away from the Goshala and all the cattle are served for their entire lifetime. The cows at the goshala welcome you with much divinity and love

Natural farming has been one of the key pillars of ISKCON Medchal, Hyderabad. The Vedic system teaches that the food we eat is directly connected with our physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Thus, literally means ‘you are what you eat’. Following India’s age-old wisdom on agricultural practices ISKCON Medchal undertakes extensive farming using the traditional methods of engaging the bull in the fields and using non-chemical components such as Jeevamrutam and natural pesticides for growing crops.

Today, the community produces several essential edibles in its land such as:

1. Rice

2. Vegetables – Tomato, Cabbage, Brinjal, Bitter Gourd, Bottle Gourd, Potatoes, Chilies.

3. Fruits – Papaya, Mango, and Guava.
