A Haven for Hindu Epics – Surendrapuri, Hyderabad

Surendrapuri is a one-stop destination where you can see the epitome of cultural, artistic and sculptural excellence. The whole exhibition was built up to bring attention to Indian epics, or more particularly Hindu epics. It was built by Kunda Satyanarayana in memory of his child Surendra who passed away. Referred to as Kunda Satyanarayana Kala Dhamam, it contains complete replicas of all the Hindu Sactuaries in India.

Visit the life-size replicas of temples from various parts of India, standing all in a row. Spend some time admiring the colorful statues of Gods and Goddesses engaged in visual narratives from the Hindu epics. Get lost amidst the vivid frames from Mahabharata and Ramayana or gawk as Gods and demons churn the ocean for the nectar of immortality at Kunda Satyanarayana Kaladhamam. Expect surprises at every turn, from a giant lion statue at the entrance to a depiction of Saptalok (the seven worlds).

You can also find models of some of the most iconic temples of India in a single stretch here (so be prepared to walk quite a lot), and thus learn a great deal about our history. The way it is engineered and the figures inside makes you feel as though you are in the sacred place itself.

There are figures and works of art portraying stories from real Hindu sages like Ramayana and Mahabharat. You can see different legendary scenes of war amongst Rama and Ravana incorporating padmavyuha in Kurukshetra amongst Kauravas and Pandavas, each one of them depicted to the minutest detail.

Another remarkable aspect of this park is its larger-than-life statues of Panchamukha Hanuman & Shiva which are 60 feet in height. Whether you are a child or an adult who enjoys legendary stories, you will absolutely enjoy visiting Surendrapuri. It takes about three hours to thoroughly explore the park. There's a lot of greenery around making it an ideal venue for a mystic picnic.

A lot more attractions await you for a pleasant trip ahead.
